A CC Design awards is given to individuals who have created a great looking design in just a few hours. And the award may well be worth winning, because a “1-hour winner” can earn around $500,000 for their designs. Check it out.
A designer can spend years working on a complicated project and end up with great results, while a designer with a lot of years of experience can easily produce designs that would leave even experts scratching their heads. The secret to a great design can easily be overlooked, especially if the designer does not consider the materials that will be used to build the object. Designers often neglect details like the size, shape, thickness or quantity of the component materials that will be used to build the object.
The material used to create an object can have a significant impact on its overall design. For example, a thin metal panel may be more flexible than a thick sheet of material, but a thin panel may not be as durable as a sheet with a thicker surface area. Materials and their properties will have a big impact on the design of the object, and it is not uncommon for a design that looks good on paper to look ridiculous in real life. For example, a design that is accurate on paper may be way too complicated when the object is made.
Some designers spend months trying to find a good balance between the design of an object and its cost, but great design is only a small part of great design. A good design does not have to be expensive to be well designed.
If a design looks good on paper and the material does not create a problem in the design, then the designer should go for the first design that looks good. If it is more important to the client that the design be cheap to produce, then the designer should base the design on the cost of the material. However, if the designer is able to avoid the cost of the material and still create a design that looks good, then the designer should go with the design that is closer to perfection.
Poorly thought-out design can have disastrous consequences. If a designer is not careful, a simple change in the design of an object can easily make it into a multi-million dollar mistake. For example, a designer may see that a change in one part of the design will cause the entire object to be over
Formats supported by AutoCAD are:
2D vector graphics (DXF, DWG)
3D vector graphics (DXF, DGN, DWG)
image (based on TIFF)
Raster graphics can be converted into any of the formats, but not directly from an image file. AutoCAD also supports the Portable Network Graphics (PNG) format.
AutoCAD supports native support for certain file formats, including the interchange of drawing and related documents, including Microsoft Office document files such as Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and others.
In addition to the basic import and export of drawing, AutoCAD offers the ability to upload and download from the cloud, including for some basic electronic mail and chat applications.
AutoCAD’s native file format is the DWG (drawing exchange format), which is an editable vector file format. The DWG file can contain text, DXF, and other graphical data.
AutoCAD uses an undo/redo system to allow an unlimited number of “operations” to be undone without losing any of the work. AutoCAD also supports simultaneous editing and routing.
Drawing models and blocks
A block is an isolated element of a drawing model. For example, the blueprint of a building can be represented in AutoCAD as a series of blocks and lines. Each block or line can have a symbol. This allows the drawing of complex models that would otherwise be impossible to draw, such as the structural steel of a building.
Blocks can be combined with other blocks or lines using the connect tool.
Graphical objects are depicted in a drawing, in AutoCAD, by drawing objects. Objects include line, polyline, spline, arc, circle, ellipse, box, sheet, text, icon, and block. Objects can be combined with lines, arcs, and circles using the connect tool.
Text can be either drawn as its own graphic or as text imported from a file. Text elements may be scaled, rotated, and positioned.
There are many different types of graphs. Graphs may be used to represent volume, dimensional, mathematical, or other calculations. There are also electrical, mechanical, and industrial graphs.
A fact is a component of a drawing model that records a real-world measurement. A fact can be assigned

With DrawItemAttributes, you can modify a shape’s appearance. Change the fill color, line color, line weight, and color of the border. (video: 1:15 min.)
Live Slicing, Crop, and AutoTrace:
With Live Slicing, you can slice a drawing in the status bar without having to cut and paste. Use the Tracing tools to view the paths and notes of a sliced drawing, and you can edit them all at once. (video: 1:23 min.)
Graphical User Interface Improvements:
Show blocks and axis points on screen with more precision. Calculate points and measure dimensions from screen. Transform your drawing to be more readable. (video: 1:30 min.)
Inline layers are added to drawings for instant sharing of drawing properties. When you save a drawing, your copy will open with its shared properties. Selecting a closed layer no longer clears the selection from the drawing. Add or remove a drawing layer. Lay out and position objects more easily.
Add and manage annotation history easily from the overview, event menu, or history panel. Resume in the previous state from any annotation or command. Manually edit the history, adding or removing annotations.
